About Sisters in Sports Foundation and our CEO & Founder, Danelle Umstead
Danelle Umstead is a four-time Paralympian and three-time medalist in alpine skiing, whose journey exemplifies resilience and determination. Diagnosed with retinitis pigmentosa at 13, she lost her vision but discovered adaptive skiing at 29, leading to an illustrious athletic career. Beyond the slopes, Danelle is a motivational speaker and advocate for inclusivity. In 2024, she was honored as a L'Oréal Paris Women of Worth for her impactful work.
As the founder and CEO of the Sisters in Sports Foundation, Danelle is dedicated to empowering women and girls with disabilities through sports. The foundation offers mentorship, wellness programs, and grants, fostering a supportive community that encourages participants to thrive and pay it forward. Through her leadership, Danelle continues to inspire and uplift, creating opportunities for others to achieve their dreams.
